  1. (medicine) A medical condition with symptoms resembling gout but caused by precipitation of calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate crystals in the joints instead of monosodium ureate crystals. Also called calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate deposition disease which is abbreviated as the acronym CPPD.
