Etymology
Probably from po, abbreviated slang based on French pot de chambre (chamber pot), after the distasteful expression anyone would adopt upon being presented with a full one. Perhaps similarly from pooh; perhaps influenced by poker-faced. Also attested âpoor-facedâ.
