Prefix "pan-" (greek 'pas', 'pantos'= "all") and "tropical" (from greek 'tropikos', referring to where the length of the day equals that of the night)
Adjective
- Occurring in tropical areas on all the major continents, i.e. in Africa, Asia and America, in 'all' the tropical regions. Used in biology, pertaining to area of geographical occurrence.
