Borrowed from Latin eunuchus, originally from Greek ε�νοῦ�ο� (eunukhos) literally �bed keeper�, derived from ε�νή (eune) meaning �bed� + ��ειν (ekhein) meaning �to keep�. Originally probably used to refer to a bed chamber attendent.
