| Definitions | noun
- (settheory) A diagram representing sets by circles or ellipses (and sometimes also the universal set as a rectangle enclosing all of these shapes) and indicating the relationships between the sets:
- by overlapping the shapes to show that the two corresponding sets have a non-empty intersection;
- by enclosing one shape entirely within another to show that the first set is a subset of the other;
- by showing completely separate shapes to show that neither of these facts applies to the corresponding sets
