Arian Heresy
proper noun
An early Christian heresy. Arius reasoned that if Christ was the son of God, He must be younger than God, and therefore lesser than God. Since God was eternal and Christ was not; therefore Christ was not wholly God. The heresy was scotched at the Council of Nicea in 325.

Named after its chief proponent w:Arius, a priest in Alexandria circa 323 AD.
