Etymology: From Latin, bonus, good.Because Latin has gender, this would mean "a good man (male)". Properly formed, the word should be bonum (neuter gender), meaning "a good thing". This would be parallel to the many other neuter gender words adopted into English, like maximum, minimum, premium, optimum. Its plural would then be bona or Bonii.
