By analogy with English plurals of Wiktionary Appendix:Latin second declension|Latin second declension nouns, notwithstanding that octopus is Greek in origin.
Usage notes
The forms octopuses and octopi appear roughly equally prevalent. The form octopodes, which would be consistent with the Greek deriviation, is much rarer. See octopus for further discussion.
