This word was created by w:Jean-Paul Sartre in the original French as néantir. This was translated to English as
nihilate by w:Hazel E. Barnes in the 1984 version of Being and Nothingness, but was first used in English by w:Helmut Kuhn in his Encounter with Nothingness.
