Usage notes
âThe correct spelling is minuscule rather than miniscule. The latter is a common error, which has arisen by analogy with other words beginning with âminiâ, where the meaning is similarly âvery smallâ.â R:Oxford 1998
At the time of writing (29 September 2005), the number of hits in the printed works listed in Google Print for minuscule outnumbers those for miniscule by a large amount (by 24,400 to 7,250, a ratio of about 77:23). In contrast, the numbers of hits on Google are 2,530,000 to 1,940,000, a ratio of about 57:43.
