From L. eclipsis < AGr. polytonic|ἔκλειψις (ekleipsis) "eclipse" < polytonic|ἐκλείπω (ekleipō) "I abandon" < polytonic|ἐκ (ek) "out" and polytonic|λείπω (leipō) "I leave behind"
