Russian
Etymology
The name literally means "belonging to (son of) the 'kalach-man'", where ÐºÐ°Ð»Ð°Ñ (kalach|kalách) is the Russian word for a specific type of twisted white bread. In former times kalach meant any kind of white bread, and came from a Tatar word meaning "to be hungry"; before modern methods of grinding wheat came into use, white bread was classed as a type of fancy bread.
